AAD Snare Pad TTSD10
TAMA's True Touch AAD Snare Pad provides the utmost dynamic expression, articulation and accuracy in a practice pad. The pad incorporates a multi-layered design using strong, heavy base materials and multiple layered foam pad materials. A sound source hidden inside the pad produces an immediate response snare buzz sound that is dynamic. This critical "sound feedback" gives the drummer critical information necessary to refine their technique. The two-ply mesh top layer material produces realistic stick response and can be "tuned" from low-mid-high to "dial-in" player feel. The top hoop is raised, similar to an actual drum hoop, to allow drummers to accent rim shots and play side-stick techniques. The overall pad construction and material combination produces a springy-yet-firm stick rebound quality that fully immerses drum stick technique with responsive, detailed rhythmic information.

To emulate the most important feature in a pad - feel - TAMA utilized a multi-layered design to produce a pad that is full of nuance. A heavy and hardy steel backing plate coupled with a hard resin disc-shaped base provide a super-solid foundation and feel. The internal resin "nest" contains two different foam pad materials: One with a softer density and one with a harder density. This design produces a springy-yet-firm stick rebound quality. The two-ply mesh-head striking surface is connected to the pad housing using six tension rods that tune the drumhead from low-mid-high, which adds an important, customized and nuanced feel and sound. Even buzz rolls at the outer edge have a more bouncy quality than when played towards the pad center.

Nestled between the internal foam pad materials and aluminum plate are more than 100 stainless steel ball. These steel balls produce a clean, staccato snare buzz sound and hit against the aluminum plate in a dynamic way - harder hits result in more snare buzz sound, while softer hits have less snare sound. This immediate response, along with the sensitive dynamic articulation, provides critical and accurate "feedback" to subtle drum stick velocity changes.

The pad's outer housing body frame has a raised surface that further promotes a realistic snare drum playing experience. The hoop provides a solid surface and height to simulate realistic rim shots and side stick techniques. A thick rubber "hoop" surface that crowns the raised housing reduces drum stick-to-hand shock to allow for comfortable and extended practice sessions. This rubber "hoop" affixes to the frame using a tongue-and-groove construction method to provide durability.
