BIOGRAPHY

Robert is currently forging a new percussion program as Director of Percussion Activities for Elkhart Community Schools where he teaches 6th-12th grade percussion students on five campuses. With over 22 years in music education, he has taught at top high school programs in Texas and Indiana, as well as serving in Graduate Assistant and Adjunct Faculty positions at the University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University. He holds a Music Education degree from Ball State University and a Masters in Percussion and Conducting from the University of North Texas. As an artist/clinician, he has performed and presented throughout the United States, Canada, Eastern Europe and Asia.

He has taught, written, and arranged for ensembles selected to perform at the National Percussion Festival, Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, Bands of America Grand National Finals, WGI World Championships, Drum Corps International and Drum Corps Associates World Championships, Texas and Indiana State Marching Band Finals, as well as numerous music festivals across the country. His students have repeatedly been recognized for their high levels of achievement, including top honors at national and international solo competitions, serving as members and instructional staff with Top 12 drum & bugle corps such as the Santa Clara Vanguard, The Cavaliers, Troopers, Phantom Regiment and several WGI Independent groups, as well as the renown UNT One O'clock Lab Band. His students have also earned Grammy awards, positions with several regional symphony orchestras, perform with leading pop, rock, and country music artists, and have appeared on various film scores. His ensembles have also earned state and national recognition with Indiana Percussion Association State Champion, Runner-Up and WGI Regional Champion titles, in addition to being named both a Commended Winner and the National Winner multiple times in the Foundation for Music Education's National Percussion Honors Recording Project.

Robert has been recognized as "Teacher of the Year", "Most Influential Faculty Member" and the recipient of several "Excellence in Education" awards. His professional memberships include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas and Indiana Music Education Associations, Texas Bandmasters Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, Golden Key, Kappa Delta Pi and the College Music Society. He is honored to be affiliated with Pro Mark, Evans, and Sabian, and is proud to be a part of the Tama Artist Roster.
