DESCRIPTION
BIOGRAPHY
Evan Hinds is a marching band designer who writes percussion arrangements and drill for several bands and ensembles across the country. He also serves as a music program consultant and adjudicator throughout the United States for marching band, concert band, and chamber ensembles. He holds degrees in music education and conducting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Currently, Mr. Hinds is the Music Ensemble Coordinator for the O’Fallon Township Marching Panthers. Prior to assuming this role, he served 8 years as Percussion Caption Head for the Marching Panthers, as well as the director of four concert percussion ensembles. Presently, he is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Illinois State University.
Before this, Mr. Hinds worked at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, where he was a percussion instructor and arranger, along with being the drill writer for the Marching Bearcats. He also taught private lessons and supervised student teachers during his time there. Mr. Hinds also spent 8 years as the band director at Triad High School in Troy, IL
During his tenure at O’Fallon, the Marching Panthers have received many accolades such as being a BOA Grand National Finalist in 2018, multiple appearances in BOA Grand National Semifinals, and consistent appearances in BOA Regional and Super Regional Finals. Other high-profile performances include The Tournament of Roses Parade (2015 and 2022), The Orange Bowl, The Hollywood Christmas Parade, Pearl Harbor, The MFA National Festival, and Carnegie Hall.
Mr. Hinds is an educational endorser for Remo Drumheads, Innovative Percussion, and TAMA | BERGERAULT Marching & Concert Percussion. He resides in O’Fallon with his wife Dr. Melissa Gustafson-Hinds, Director of Bands at O’Fallon Township High School. They have a daughter, Evelyn.
