Nelu Dumitrescu

Nelu Dumitrescu is a legendary figure in Romanian rock, best known as the co-founder and steady rhythmic heartbeat of the quintessential hard rock band Iris, ever since its inception in 1977. Throughout his nearly five-decade career, he has collaborated with nearly every major figure in the Romanian rock scene, including a notable stint with the influential group Roșu și Negru in the early 1980s. As the leader of the current "Iris Nelu Dumitrescu" faction, he remains one of the few founding members of the original wave of Romanian hard rock still actively touring and recording.
